Canada Student Visa (Study Permit) Process

To study in Canada, international students must obtain a study permit. Below is an overview of the process:

Apply to and receive an acceptance letter from a Canadian institution approved by the Government of Canada to host international students.

1. Acceptance from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI)

Gather all necessary documents, including a valid passport, acceptance letter, proof of financial support, and supporting academic and personal documents. Language proficiency and medical examination reports may also be required.

2. Prepare Required Documents

Submit your study permit application to the Canadian immigration authorities, along with applicable fees. Biometrics may be required depending on your nationality

3. Apply for the Study Permit

Processing times may vary, so early application is recommended. During this stage, additional documents or an interview may be requested.

4. Application Processing

Once approved, you will receive a Letter of Introduction. This document, along with your study permit and any required entry visa, allows you to travel and begin your studies in Canada.

Requirements for Canada Student Visa

To apply for a Canada student visa, you typically need:

  • Valid passport covering your intended stay

  • Attested copies of 10th, 12th, and degree certificates

  • Academic transcripts and certificates

  • Two academic reference letters

  • Two employer reference letters (if applicable)
